At the moment, we are applying Ianna for a school for January 2008. We wanted her to go to our parish school which is near our place and also to give her a Catholic education.
Last Sunday, I started to prep Ianna that on Tuesday, we will go to the church to visit the school. I gave her a glimpse of what will happen (I will be interviewed by the principal while Ianna will be taken in a room with a teacher to be observe). The I did the same thing yesterday but now with more detail.
While I told her on what will happen, I continue to affirm her that I will be just there and I will not leave her. I told her that nothing bad will happen to her, so there is no need to worry. Then I went on to tell her that it will be like before in her playschool in Makati where Teacher Christy will talk to her alone and ask her to write, color, etc...
Daddy: They might ask you to write your name I-A-N-N-A
Ianna: Pero di ako marunong.
Daddy: Yes you know.... just like how you write in your drawings.
Ianna: Ok.
Then the day went on and I forgot all about it. She was watching TV while I was doing something else. Then later on, she borrowed my pen and started to scribble in a scratch paper. Then she approached me --
Ianna: Daddy look! I can write my name.
Daddy: I know you can... that's great!
Then she smiled and went back to the TV.
At night time, while we were having our night prayers, I did what I usually do.. I ask her what else she wanted to pray for... she said, "wait". Then she wrote in the air with her fingers while I can hear a faint whisper... i-a-n-n-a.
"daddy, I can spell my name" :)
That put a smile in both our faces and I kissed her goodnight.

the whole day, she was thinking about our visit to the school and was 'preparing' in her own little way. It's great being a parent.
